A slide show is a montage of photos set to music that flows together to tell a story much like a video.
Many guests at a wedding either know the bride and groom from childhood, or as adults. Slide shows are a great way to fill them in with the whole story of their life growing up until the engagement.
A couple provides me with photos from their youth until their engagement, and also photos of family and friends if desired. I then have the couple pick a few meaningful songs and I get started. I scan the pictures and if necessary, color-correct them. I then assemble the slide show utilizing special software. I post a demo video online for the bride and groom to proof, then I burn it to DVD.
10 pictures equals about one minute of slide show video. Typically, I suggest couples give me 30-50 pictures for each section they would like in the slide show for a video lasting 10-15 minutes. For example:
Good Times suggests showing the video at the closure of the dinner hour while guests are still somewhat seated.
Good Times will broadcast the slide show live at a wedding with a giant video screen and DLP projector, and hook the sound up to the DJ system for a movie-theater type experience. The slide show makes a great gift also, and can alternatively be show at a rehearsal dinner.
